Abstract
Šiniranje je terapijski postupak stabilizacije pomičnih zubi pomoću šine („splinta“). Patološka pomičnost zuba raste progresivno i zato ju je važno zaustaviti, a nastaje kao posljedica okluzalne traume, ortodontske traume i parodontitisa. Nakon što je definirana etiologija hipermobilnosti zuba, slijedi daljnje planiranje terapije i s obzirom na indikacije i kontraindikacije donosi se odluka o šiniranju. Šina ni u kojem slučaju ne smije dovesti do pogoršanja stanja, zato je važno kontrolirati sve čimbenike i poznavati biomehaniku šiniranja. Šiniranje može biti privremeno, polutrajno i trajno, a šine se kategoriziraju s obzirom na način sidrenja i materijale od kojih se izrađuju. U kliničkoj praksi za stabilizaciju pomičnih zubi se najčešće koristi vlaknima ojačani kompozitni materijal zbog brojnih prednosti.
Abstract (english)
Splinting is a dental treatment used to stabilize mobile teeth using the appliance called splint. Pathological tooth mobility is progressive so it is important to stop the process. It may be caused by occlusal trauma, orthodontic trauma and/or periodontal disease. After defining the etiology of tooth hypermobility, it is important to make a plan and decide on the future steps in therapy. Due to indications and contraindications it is possible to decide whether splinting is necessary. A splint must not deteriorate current situation and that is why it is really important to control all the factors, and also, to know biomechanical principles of splinting therapy. Splinting can be provisional, semitemporary and temporary but splints are categorized according to anchoring and materials. In clinical practice splints are mostly made of fibre reinforced composite materials considering all the benefits.
