Orthodontic extrusion, also known as forced eruption is a therapy procedure in dental medicine. Its goal is crown lenghtening, modification and creation of soft and hard supporting tissues. As a therapy solution it is proposed in cases such as subgingival damage, enhancing aesthetic value in visible segment and in the need of developing enough tissue for implant site where it is prosthetically indicated. Compared to classic surgical crown lenghtening, forced eruption holds advantages such as better and more natural aesthetics, maintaining and developing hard tissues surrounding the tooth, limiting the involvement of adjacent teeth and decreasing negative impact on crown to root ratio. Both mobile and fixed appliances can be used in the procedure, but final decision on which one to use is individual since it depends on patient cooperation. • Before the start of the treatment, it is necessary to carry out detailed anamnesis and clinical and radiographic analysis to identify procedure contraindications such as inflammation, ankylosis, hypercementosis, vertical rooth fracture and root proximity.
